There’s No Need to Travel Far from Chicago to Find Off-Road Fun in your Jeep!
At Milito’s Auto Repair, we work on all kinds of Jeeps, from the newest Grand Cherokees and Renegades to customized Wranglers geared toward off-roading. In conversations with some of these adventurous drivers, a common question comes up: “Where can I take my Jeep off road near Chicago?”
To help answer that question, we’ve put together a collection of the Chicago area’s best off-roading locations in no particular order.
River Road Rally Park
Near the far edge of the northwest suburbs in McHenry, Illinois, the River Road Rally Park is about an hour from downtown Chicago and perfect for Jeep drivers looking for some off road enjoyment without too much travel. The park is roughly 40 acres, with a dedicated track for 4×4 vehicles like SUVs and Jeeps, and the closest off-roading option to the city!
Badlands Off Road Park
Located about two hours south of Chicago in Attica, Indiana, the Badlands Off Road Park features over 1,400 acres of diverse trails, dunes, and terrain that caters to both beginners and experienced off road drivers. This is an excellent place for Jeep owners to push their vehicles and their skills, with nearby amenities so visitors can make a whole excursion of their off-roading adventure.
Two Rivers Jeep Club
A privately-owned, Jeep-only series of trails on 6,000 acres of land, the Two Rivers Jeep Club is four hours away from Chicago in Pittsfield, Illinois. It’s further away from the city than the rest of our list, but the focus on Jeeps – and the community of people who love Jeeps – make it well worth the trip. Learn more about rules, events, and trails on the TRJC website.
